Most Mason Monterey pieces have two stamps: the Monterey stamp and the horseshoe. “But,” Kate Powell explains, “not always. When Monterey really got going and they were branding the wood, sometimes the smoke got so heavy in the shop, they’d just have to stop and ship without the brand. They didn’t think anyone would care,” she says.
